Join us on an unforgettable wildlife and bird photography expedition to Blackbuck National Park, Velavadar — one of the best wildlife photography tours in India for capturing dramatic grassland scenes and rare animal behaviour. Nestled in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district, this spectacular park is a paradise for photographers, offering vast golden savannahs, dramatic skies, and rich biodiversity all in one place.
The star attraction of Velavadar is the Blackbuck (Antilope cervicapra) — India’s graceful antelope, renowned for its spiral horns, high-speed sprints, and striking presence against the sweeping landscapes. These charismatic subjects make for breathtaking action and portrait shots. Beyond blackbucks, the park is home to Indian grey wolves, striped hyenas, blue bulls (Nilgai), golden jackals, and jungle cats, creating endless opportunities for behavioural and storytelling wildlife photography.
Velavadar is also a dream destination for bird photographers. In winter, the skies transform into a raptor haven, with harriers, eagles, kestrels, and short-eared owls dominating the scene, while flamingos, pelicans, and storks grace the wetland pockets. This rare ecosystem — where grasslands meet coastal wetlands — offers a dynamic interplay of textures, light, and wildlife interactions, ideal for experimenting with techniques like panning, backlighting, and creative framing.
Guided by an expert DCP photography mentor, participants will benefit from hands-on field sessions, composition critiques, and storytelling challenges designed to elevate their photography skills. Whether you’re chasing light, freezing motion, or composing the perfect frame, Velavadar offers an inspiring natural stage for photographers of all levels.
