Overview

Embark on a 1 night, 2 days Monsoon Wildlife & Macro Photography Boot Camp to Mamadapur, one of Maharashtra’s hidden gems for monsoon wildlife photography. Every August, the vast grasslands surrounding Mamadapur burst into life, transforming into a breathtaking carpet of thousands of seasonal wildflowers. These vibrant blooms create spectacular natural backdrops for photographing Blackbucks in one of the most picturesque grassland landscapes in western India.

Beyond the flowering meadows, the expedition also explores the rich world of macro photography, offering opportunities to photograph frogs, reptiles, insects, spiders, and other fascinating monsoon-special microfauna that thrive in the region. Guided by a DCP Senior Photography Mentor, participants will learn wildlife and macro photography techniques, creative lighting, fieldcraft, and composition while exploring two contrasting ecosystems over an immersive weekend.

About The Tour

Join DCP Expeditions for a 1 night, 2 days Monsoon Wildlife & Macro Photography Boot Camp to Mamadapur, one of Maharashtra’s hidden treasures for monsoon wildlife photography. Every August, the expansive grasslands surrounding Mamadapur transform into a breathtaking mosaic of thousands of seasonal wildflowers, creating one of the most spectacular natural settings to photograph Blackbucks in India. Watching these elegant antelopes move gracefully through carpets of blooming flowers is a rare photographic experience available only during the monsoon.

As the day transitions into night, the focus shifts from grassland mammals to the fascinating world of macro photography. The monsoon brings the landscape alive with a remarkable diversity of frogs, reptiles, insects, spiders, and other nocturnal wildlife, providing endless opportunities to explore and photograph the hidden biodiversity of the region.

Led by a DCP Senior Photography Mentor, this boot camp is designed to help participants develop both wildlife and macro photography skills through hands-on field learning. Participants will gain practical knowledge of animal behavior, fieldcraft, composition, creative lighting, diffuser techniques, and ethical wildlife photography while receiving continuous guidance throughout the expedition.

Accommodation will be at the Forest Department Guest House in basic dormitory-style rooms, offering a simple yet immersive stay close to the grasslands and photography locations, allowing maximum time in the field.

Whether your goal is to photograph Blackbucks framed against vibrant monsoon wildflowers, document the rich macro life that emerges after dark, or simply experience one of Maharashtra’s most beautiful seasonal wildlife spectacles, this expedition offers a perfect blend of photography, learning, and nature exploration.

Mamdapur sanctuary is a silent and beautiful grassland with a varied biodiversity. It is not very well known in the wild-life lovers circle and DCP Expeditions has made a great effort in popularising this place through the strong and continuous efforts of mentor Sangram Govardhane. Sangram is a great photographer and a wonderful person. He has added astrophotography to the pack and given us novices a great bonus. Because of his patient guidance, I am now confident of doing more of astrophotography. The place itself has just basic facility for stay, but that is delivered with so much love and personal touch. Who cares for these issues anyway, when so many blackbucks are flying around you in such zest! Thank you DCPE and Sangram for a amazing weekend!
