About The Tour

Step into the heart of Kerala’s cultural soul with DCP Expeditions on a 3 nights and 4 days travel photography tour focused on two of India’s most iconic traditional art forms — Theyyam and Kalaripayattu.

Experience the visual drama of Theyyam, a centuries-old ritual performance where artists, adorned in elaborate face paint and ornate headgear, transform into deities through fire dances, music, and trance-like states. Capture their vibrant expressions, intricate costumes, and the spiritual fervor surrounding these village temple festivals.

Complementing this is an exclusive Kalaripayattu photography session — the graceful yet powerful martial art of Kerala, featuring lightning-fast moves, high kicks, weapon combat, and meditative discipline. The visual dynamism of Kalaripayattu provides a perfect contrast to the divine energy of Theyyam.

Led by expert DCP mentors, this tour is curated for photographers passionate about cultural, ritualistic, portrait, and action photography. You’ll learn to master challenging lighting conditions, anticipate expressive moments, and compose powerful cultural narratives through your lens.
