Nestled between the Shivalik Hills of the Himalayas and the Gangetic Plains, Rajaji’s rich mosaic of sal forests, riverbeds, grasslands, and foothill landscapes supports an incredible diversity of wildlife, making it an exceptional destination for nature and wildlife photographers.
This expedition features 5 exciting open gypsy safaris, maximizing your time inside the park to explore its varied habitats in search of Asian Elephants, Leopards, Tigers, Gaur, deer, and over 300 species of birds. Every safari presents a unique opportunity to witness remarkable wildlife behaviour and create compelling images in the beautiful forests of Uttarakhand.
Accompanied by a DCP Senior Photography Mentor, participants will receive continuous on-field guidance on wildlife behaviour, camera settings, autofocus techniques, composition, fieldcraft, and ethical wildlife photography. Whether you’re photographing a herd of elephants crossing a forest track, a leopard resting in the sal forest, or vibrant birdlife against the Himalayan foothills, every outing is designed to enhance both your technical skills and creative vision.

Sangram is a skilled wildlife photographer and a hardcore nature enthusiast. He has travelled extensively across the Indian geography photographing and documenting the magnanimous beauty of the natural history of the country in his camera. His images have been appreciated and acknowledged in various photography competitions, newspapers and Exhibitions. He has a special interest Bird photography. Sangram has done his Bachelors of Architecture from University of Pune. Apart from being a skilled photographer, he is also a talented Artist and has a great hand in painting, sketching and sculpting. He is a skilled trainer, one of the DCP Explorers and is currently associated with us as a Panel Expert and Consultant, Strategy Team.

This tour is Ex Rajaji. Most recommended is train. If you are traveling by flight, you can fly down to Dehradun. You are requested to arrive Dehradun as early as possible in the morning. On Day 1, so that you can reach the resort by 12 PM latest. However On Day 3, we strongly recommend booking a late-night train from Dehradun to Delhi after completing the evening safari.
**We recommend Flexi flight option for greater flexibility in unforeseen cancellations.
This tour is Ex Rajaji. The nearest major railway station is Dehradun Railway Station (DDN). Participants should arrive in Dehradun early on Day 1 and then travel onward to Rajaji by road. On Day 3, we recommend booking a late-night train from Dehradun to Delhi after completing the evening safari.

This tour is Ex-Rajaji. Participants are requested to arrive in Dehradun as early as possible on Day 1 so that they can reach the resort by 12:00 PM at the latest.
After check-in, a short briefing, and lunch, we will depart for our first open gypsy safari in the Cheelawali range by approximately 1:30 PM. This introductory safari offers the first opportunity to explore Rajaji’s sal forests, riverbeds, and grasslands in search of Asian Elephants, Leopards, Tigers, deer, and a rich variety of birds.
We will return to the resort by around 6:30 PM. After tea or coffee and some time to freshen up, the DCP mentor will conduct an informal image review and address photography-related questions from the day’s safari.
Dinner will be served at approximately 8:30 PM, followed by rest.
The day begins with a 5:30 AM wake-up call, followed by hot coffee or masala tea. We will leave the resort by around 6:00 AM and enter the park by approximately 6:30 AM, after completing the required document verification formalities.
The morning safari continues until around 10:40 AM, offering excellent opportunities to photograph wildlife in soft morning light. On returning to the resort, participants can freshen up, enjoy breakfast, and rest.
After an early lunch, we will leave by approximately 1:45 PM for the afternoon safari, scheduled to begin around 2:00 PM. This session focuses on exploring another part of the reserve and making the most of the changing light and wildlife activity towards evening.
We return to the resort by around 5:45 PM. After tea or coffee, participants can freshen up and join the mentor for an image review, discussion, and guided post-processing session.
Dinner will be served by 8:30 PM, followed by overnight stay.
On-field learning from the experts is said to be one of the best methods of improving your skill-set. Our expert will hand hold you at every possible step for a better understanding of perspectives, camera controls and how to make use of the best opportunities to get better images.
