This carefully curated expedition includes 6 exclusive gypsy safaris, with only 4 photographers per vehicle, ensuring maximum comfort, unobstructed shooting angles, and personalized guidance in the field. Designed to maximize wildlife encounters, the safaris explore different habitats and zones of the park, offering excellent opportunities to photograph Royal Bengal Tigers, leopards, dholes, sloth bears, gaur, deer, and a rich variety of birds and other wildlife.

A unique highlight of this Winter Special expedition is an exclusive Astro Photography session from the resort. Under favourable weather conditions, participants will learn to photograph the night sky, star trails, constellations, and creative nightscapes from the comfort of the resort, adding an exciting creative dimension to the wildlife experience.

Throughout the expedition, a DCP Senior Photography Mentor will provide continuous on-field mentoring on wildlife behavior, fieldcraft, autofocus techniques, exposure, composition, storytelling, and ethical wildlife photography. Whether you’re photographing a tiger emerging from the bamboo forests at sunrise or creating long-exposure images beneath a star-filled sky, every session is designed to strengthen both your technical skills and creative vision.

Getting Ready

Things to carry:

  • Telephoto lenses – preferably above 400 mm.
  • Carry fully charged batteries for your camera / flash.
  • Carry battery charger. Carry extra pack of camera batteries.
  • Carry backup memory cards / HDD storage drives, Laptop.
  • Carrying a Tripod is a must for all bird photography workshops.
  • Carry a big towel / cloth to protect your gear from dust.
  • Carry a big cloth / bandanna / scarf to protect you from dust.
  • Warm clothes, gloves for the chilly early mornings.
  • Sun screens are very important.
  • It is advisable to carry basic first aid along with you.
  • Please carry suitable mosquito repellants to keep you protected from mosquito bites.
  • Carry a pair of good binoculars.

Itinerary

Participants are requested to arrive at Nagpur Airport or Railway Station by 8:30 AM. After a short introduction and breakfast, we will begin our scenic drive to Pench National Park, which takes approximately two hours.

Upon arrival at the resort, complete the check-in formalities and settle into your rooms. Following lunch, our DCP photography mentor will conduct a welcome session covering the expedition plan, Pench’s wildlife, safari ethics, camera settings, and photography strategies for the coming days.

In the afternoon, we head out for our first gypsy safari, exploring one of Pench’s renowned wildlife zones in search of Royal Bengal Tigers, Leopards, Dholes, Sloth Bears, Gaur, and the park’s rich birdlife. Return to the resort by evening for tea and refreshments.

After dinner, weather permitting, participants will gather for a special Astro Photography session from the resort. Learn the fundamentals of photographing the night sky, constellations, star trails, and creative nightscapes under the guidance of your DCP mentor.

Dinner and overnight stay at the Pench resort.

The day begins early with a wake-up call followed by tea or coffee before departing for the morning safari. Early morning offers some of the best opportunities to photograph wildlife as predators return from their nocturnal activities and the forest comes alive with birds and mammals.

Packed breakfast will be served during the safari, allowing maximum time inside the park. Our DCP mentor will provide continuous guidance on wildlife behavior, tracking techniques, autofocus settings, exposure, composition, and creating compelling wildlife stories.

After returning to the resort, enjoy lunch and take some time to relax, back up your photographs, and recharge your equipment.

In the afternoon, we head out for the evening safari, exploring another carefully selected zone of Pench National Park to maximize wildlife sightings and photographic opportunities. The changing light conditions during the golden hours provide ideal opportunities for dramatic wildlife portraits and environmental compositions.

Return to the resort after sunset for tea and refreshments. The evening concludes with informal discussions, image reviews, and photography mentoring sessions where participants can receive feedback and refine their techniques for the following day.

Wake up early for the final morning safari, making the most of one last opportunity to photograph the magnificent wildlife of Pench National Park. Every safari presents a different experience, and the final drive often produces memorable sightings and photographic moments.

After returning to the resort, enjoy breakfast, complete the check-out formalities, and have lunch before beginning the return journey to Nagpur.

The expedition concludes with unforgettable memories, new friendships, enhanced wildlife photography skills, and a portfolio filled with remarkable images from one of India’s finest tiger landscapes.
