Embark on a 3 nights and 4 days Wildlife Photography Expedition to Dudhwa National Park, one of India’s best-kept secrets tucked away in the lush Terai belt along the Indo-Nepal border.
Organized by DCP Expeditions, this tour offers a rare opportunity to explore and photograph the unique biodiversity of Dudhwa’s dense sal forests, tall elephant grasslands, and tranquil marshes. Unlike the more frequented parks, Dudhwa offers an offbeat and intimate wildlife experience with fewer crowds and richer wilderness moments.
Dudhwa is renowned for its healthy tiger and leopard populations, and for being one of the few places in India where you can photograph the reintroduced Indian rhinoceros in their natural habitat. The park is also famous for its Barasingha (swamp deer)—found in large herds grazing the wetlands, making for breathtaking wildlife compositions.
Whether you’re capturing a tiger in the golden Terai grass, or a majestic rhino framed by morning mist, Dudhwa promises spectacular visual narratives. With our expert mentors guiding you on field techniques, tracking, and storytelling, this expedition is perfect for photographers looking to dive deeper into India’s wilder side.

For all outstation participants, we recommend reaching Lucknow on Day 1 before 9 a.m. It will take around 4.5 hours to reach Dudhwa National Park which is about 222 kms from Lucknow. We will be travelling by road and will have refreshments on the way. After reaching our lodge which is located closest to the tourist entry gate, we will have time to have our lunch and prepare for our first safari. The evening safaris start at 2:30 pm and will mark the start of our nature extravaganza. We will be exploring the wild Sal forests of Dudhwa National Park trying to make images of the charismatic habitat and wildlife including the Bengal tiger.
After the safari we return to the lodge and have our evening refreshments, discuss the day’s experience and set the tone and expectation. Work on the images made on Day 1 and move for an early dinner.
Wake up call at 5:00 a.m. Have your morning tea and get ready for the morning safari, we set out by 6:30 and will be going through the interiors of Dudhwa National Park on the morning safari. You will be having your breakfast inside the park during the safari.
Dudhwa is the first National Park in Uttar Pradesh which lies at the Indo-Nepal border and is a hotbed of rare and elusive faunal diversity including tiger, leopard, greater one-horned rhino, Indian elephant, sloth bear, fishing cat, swamp deer etc. and it is more often than not the ultimate place for making dreamlike images which stand-out in the crowded image space of today. Post safari return to resort and take rest before meeting up to discuss any technical hurdles faced while photographing the subjects encountered.
We will have our lunch at the lodge and set out for the evening safari at Kishanpur wildlife sanctuary, this part of the Dudhwa landscape offers a relatively open forest facilitating great views and this is where most of the big cat sightings happen. Post safari, return to the lodge in the evening and enjoy a bonfire before having dinner.
Spend the evening by joining the group to discuss your experience and you can consult our mentor for any guidance on photography and post-processing.

Today is the last day of our trip and it is time to bid adieu to Terai! But not before we have done one last safari at Dudhwa. So, we wake-up by 5:30 a.m and leave for the morning safari by 6:30 a.m. Post safari, return to FRH and have breakfast. We leave for Lucknow airport once we have finished the check-out formalities. Our trip ends here!
Lucknow airport from Dudhwa is located at 222km(4.5 hrs) away.
NOTE: The plan is to make the best out of time at hand and we might make little changes as to which range/forest we will be visiting on which day based on the current sightings. For example, there is a new tigress with cubs being sighted at Katerniaghat, if her movement is detected well in advance, we will stay overnight at Katerniaghat FRH and do safaris here to maximise our chances of getting the elusive Terai tiger.

Please take a note that sighting of a Tiger and / or a good photography opportunity to capture it in an ideal frame is a matter of luck. Though the possibility of sighting is high but it can never be guaranteed in the wild.
Our current plan includes three safaris each at Dudhwa and Kishanpur. However, the final allocation may be modified by the DCP mentor in real time, taking into account local wildlife sightings and prevailing weather conditions in December, to ensure the best possible photography opportunities.
