About The Tour

Join us for a thrilling 3 nights and 4 days Macro Photography Expedition in Goa, exploring the rich biodiversity of the Western Ghats across prime locations such as Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary, Tambdi Surla, and Chorla Ghats. Covering nearly 240 sq km, this landscape forms part of one of the largest contiguous protected forest tracts in the central Western Ghats. With over 3,000 mm of annual rainfall, the monsoon transforms these forests into a vibrant hotspot for herpetofauna and macro life. The lush forests of Tambdi Surla come alive with amphibians and reptiles during the rains, while Chorla Ghats, perched at around 800 m elevation, is known for hosting rare species such as the Barred Wolf Snake (Lycodon striatus). These diverse habitats create exceptional opportunities for macro photographers to document the Western Ghats’ extraordinary rainforest biodiversity.

Target Species: Hump-nosed Pit Viper, Malabar Pit Viper, Bamboo Pit Viper, Saw-scaled Viper, King Cobra, Common Krait, Bronze-backed Tree Snake, Painted Bronze-backed Tree Snake, Indian Rock Python, Common Vine Snake, Checkered Keelback, Rat Snake, Beddome’s Keelback, Common Wolf Snake, Malabar Gliding Frog, Indian Bullfrog, Skittering Frog, Dobson’s Burrowing Frog, Bicoloured Frog, Fungoid Frog, Bronze Frog, Reddish Burrowing Frog, Ornate Narrow-mouthed Frog, Jerdon’s Ramanella, Common Tree Frog, and Common Indian Toad.

This expedition offers a deep dive into one of India’s most vibrant monsoon ecosystems, making it an outstanding opportunity for photographers to capture rare and endemic reptiles and amphibians of the Western Ghats, and one of the most rewarding macro photography tours in India.
