Participants are requested to arrive at Amboli by the afternoon and complete the check-in formalities. After some time to relax and freshen up, we will assemble for a welcome briefing by the DCP mentor, followed by an introduction to the expedition, macro photography techniques, ethical field practices, and safety guidelines.
Our first field session begins at 6:00 PM with an exploration of the Amboli Garden area, one of the region's richest habitats for frogs, reptiles, insects, spiders, and other fascinating macro subjects. As darkness falls, the forest comes alive with incredible nocturnal biodiversity, providing excellent opportunities to photograph Amboli's remarkable herpetofauna under the guidance of our mentor.
The session continues until approximately 8:30 PM, after which we return to the resort for dinner and overnight stay.
Meals: Dinner
Stay: Whistling Woods
After breakfast, we begin our morning field session from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, exploring the lush Amboli Ghat waterfall region, one of the most productive macro habitats during the monsoon. We will photograph the fall base crabs, frogs and other rainforest inhabitants around the waterfalls and moist forest floor.
We come back and continue the morning session through the Garden Area, Sada area, and the forest trails behind the MTDC complex, where participants will receive hands-on guidance on composition, creative lighting, focus stacking techniques, and ethical macro photography.
Following lunch and some rest, we head out again from 5:00 PM to explore the forest road leading towards Mahadevgarh Fort, another biodiversity hotspot that offers excellent opportunities for Malabar Pit Vipers and several other species. We will continue exploring the surrounding garden habitats before returning for dinner.
After dinner, weather and conditions permitting, participants will venture out to photograph the magical bioluminescent fungi, one of Amboli's most fascinating monsoon phenomena, learning specialized techniques for photographing these naturally glowing organisms in complete darkness.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Stay: Whistling Woods
Our final morning begins with a short macro photography session from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM, exploring the habitats surrounding the resort in search of any remaining photographic opportunities. The softer morning light often provides excellent conditions for photographing insects, spiders, fungi, and other rainforest subjects.
After breakfast, we will conduct one final short field session nearby, allowing participants to refine techniques, revisit subjects, and make the most of their last morning in Amboli.
Following lunch, the expedition concludes with unforgettable memories, new macro photography skills, and a portfolio filled with remarkable images from one of India's richest rainforest ecosystems. Safe travels home!

This was my first attempt at Macro. I found Caeser to be a very good instructor, he overcame my fear of snakes, and blended the entire group together. He made sure everyone got a chance to get their photos. Whistling Woods was a very comfortable stay and I did enjoy the food. I had a suggestions to improve on the overall experience: I thought the large diffusers were intruding on some subjects, maybe limit the size of diffusers. I am not an expert on this issue, this was an observation
