Join DCP Expeditions for an unforgettable 1 night, 2 days Landscape & Astro Photography Expedition to Jawhar, a hidden gem nestled in the northern Sahyadri ranges of Maharashtra. Known for its spectacular waterfalls, mist-covered hills, serene lakes, and dense forests, Jawhar transforms into a photographer’s paradise during the monsoon season.

Throughout the day, participants will explore some of the region’s most scenic waterfalls, dramatic viewpoints, and lush landscapes while learning composition, long-exposure techniques, use of filters, and creative approaches to landscape photography.

As darkness descends, the expedition shifts to an exciting Astro Photography Boot Camp. Weather permitting, participants will attempt to photograph the Milky Way Core, create stunning star trails, and compose dramatic nightscapes by incorporating lakes, waterfalls, silhouettes, and foreground elements into their images. The workshop also covers light painting, steel wool photography, and creative long-exposure techniques, helping participants build a diverse portfolio of night images.

Participants will stay at a scenic lakeside camping facility in comfortable twin-sharing tents, providing an immersive outdoor experience under the stars. Whether you are new to astrophotography or looking to refine your night photography skills, this expedition offers the perfect combination of learning, creativity, and adventure.

How To Reach

The tour is Ex Jawhar. Participants will travel using their own vehicles. Nearest airport is Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (Mumbai - BOM), approximately 145 km from Jawhar (around 3.5–4 hours by road).

Getting Ready

Things to carry:

  • Carry a wide-angle lens for landscape and astrophotography.
  • A sturdy tripod is essential.
  • Carry a remote shutter release if available.
  • Bring multiple fully charged batteries and memory cards.
  • Carry headlamp or torch with a red light mode.
  • Warm clothing is recommended for the night.
  • Rain protection for yourself and your camera is advisable.
  • ND and Circular Polarizer filters are recommended for waterfall photography.
  • Personal medications and insect repellent are recommended.

Itinerary

Participants will report directly at the designated campsite in Jawhar during the morning. After introductions and a briefing by the DCP mentor, we begin exploring the region’s spectacular waterfalls and monsoon landscapes.

Throughout the day, participants will learn composition techniques, use of filters, long-exposure photography, and creative framing while photographing waterfalls, streams, forests, and scenic viewpoints.

Following sunset and dinner at the campsite, we begin our Astro Photography & Creative Night Photography Session. Depending on weather conditions, participants will attempt to photograph the Milky Way Core, create star trails, and compose dramatic nightscapes featuring lakes, silhouettes, and foreground elements. The session also includes light painting and steel wool photography, introducing participants to creative long-exposure techniques.

Overnight stay at the lakeside campsite.

Wake before sunrise to photograph the beautiful morning light across the lake and surrounding hills. Early morning mist, reflections, and soft light create excellent opportunities for landscape photography.

Following breakfast, participants will review images with the mentor before concluding the expedition and departing for their onward journey.
