Getting Ready

Things to carry:

  • Telephoto lenses – preferably above 400 mm for distant shots
  • Zoom lenses – for the flexibility that it offers for unanticipated circumstances
  • Wide angle lenses for opportunities of landscape and astro photography
  • Carry fully charged batteries for your camera / flash.
  • Carry battery charger. Carry extra pack of camera batteries
  • Carry backup memory cards / HDD storage drives, Laptop
  • Bean Bag (stuff with Bajra or thermacol or Rice).
  • Carry a big towel / cloth to protect your gear from dust
  • Carry a big cloth / bandanna / scarf to protect you from the dust
  • Body Warmer for the chilly early mornings.
  • Sun screens are very important
  • It is advisable to carry basic first aid along with you.
  • Please carry Odomos to keep you protected from mosquito bites.
  • Carry a pair of good binoculars

Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)

Kenya has waived off e-VISA requirement but they have introduced a new requirement which is called Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).

Please keep the following documents and things handy before you start filling the application form.

  • Copy of the first and last page (in one single document). Please ensure passport is valid for at least six (6) months after your planned date of arrival into Kenya, with at least one blank page
  • Selfie or passport-type photo
  • Contact information, email address and phone number
  • Details of your arrival and departure itinerary and flight tickets
  • Accommodation booking confirmation(s) - (will be provided by us)
  • Credit card, debit card or other means of payment

This will cost you $ 35, which needs to be paid online to Kenya Govt.

Itinerary

Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi, where you will complete your immigration formalities and be greeted by our airport representative. Your safari vehicle will be ready to receive you for the scenic drive to the Masai Mara (approx. 5.5 hours). En route, enjoy breakfast as the landscape shifts from bustling city to the rolling savannahs of Kenya. Arrive at Keekorok Mara Lodge in time for lunch. After a brief rest, set out on your very first game drive in the legendary Masai Mara, where every turn of the track holds the promise of a thrilling sighting. Return to the lodge in the evening. Overnight at Keekorok Mara. Meals: Breakfast (en route), Lunch & Dinner at the lodge.
After an early breakfast, set out on a full-day safari in the Masai Mara, exploring the vast savannah in search of the extraordinary wildlife that calls this reserve home. Keep your camera ready — with some luck, you may witness a dramatic hunt unfold right before your eyes. During the Great Migration season, the Mara comes alive with unparalleled action: apex predators stalking wildebeest herds, crocodiles lying in wait at the riverbanks, and prides of lions surveying the plains. We will drive up to the Mara River, where the awe-inspiring spectacle of millions of wildebeests and zebras attempting the treacherous crossing is a once-in-a-lifetime sight. Packed lunches will be provided, allowing you to maximize your time in the field without returning to the lodge. Post-lunch, continue your game drive as you search for the iconic Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo — along with countless other species that make the Mara so unique. Return to your camp in the evening. Overnight at Keekorok Mara Camp – Full board
Enjoy your final morning safari in the Masai Mara, setting out early to capture the last sights of the savannah’s incredible wildlife. Return to the lodge for breakfast, and by around 11:00 AM, begin your journey back to Nairobi. On arrival, you will be transferred to Hotel Argyle, conveniently located for easy access to the airport, ensuring a comfortable overnight stay before your early morning flight the following day. You will be dropped at the airport as per your flight time. This is the end of the expedition. 

Field Learnings

On field learning from the experts is said to be one of the best methods of improving your skillsets. Our Wildlife Photography Expert will hand hold you at every possible step for a better understanding of perspectives, camera controls and how to make use of the best opportunities to get better images. The training will focus on the following

  • How to approach Wildlife in the field
  • Different modes of shooting (Av / A, Tv / S, M and P)
  • Exposure control in field under difficult light conditions
  • Mastering metering techniques (Spot, partial, center weighted, evaluative)
  • Mastering auto focus, focusing points, AF locking and focus tracking for moving subjects
  • How to get sharp images of moving subjects
  • Framing and composition in the field
  • Ethics in Wildlife Photography

Applicable TCS:

Section 206C(G) of Income tax act, 1961 mandates tour package operators selling overseas packages to collect TCS from the individuals travelling abroad. As announced in budget 2025, the threshold limit of remittances (under LRS) made to overseas tour package sellers is Rs. 10 lakh (except for medical and educational expenses). TCS is 5% below threshold and 20% above the threshold. As a mandate, we will therefore, be collecting TCS as per the mentioned threshold and depositing to Govt within the deadline. Don't worry, TCS isn't an extra fee! It is an advance tax payment that will be adjusted against your income tax liability when you file your returns.
