About The Tour

Embark on a captivating 3 nights 4 days bird photography expedition through the Himalayan foothills of Uttarakhand, covering four of North India’s most scenic and biodiversity-rich birding zones — Sattal, Shyamkhet, Ramgarh, and Ranikhet. This masterclass-style expedition is designed for photography enthusiasts eager to capture the visual poetry of forest birds, alpine species, and Himalayan endemics in diverse natural settings.

From the lush oak and pine forests of Sattal to the highland meadows of Ranikhet, each location on this tour offers something unique. Sattal is famed for its bird hides and lakeside species, while Ramgarh’s wooded slopes are a haven for laughingthrushes and woodpeckers. Shyamkhet offers intimate forest trails ideal for flycatchers and babblers, and Ranikhet provides a rare opportunity to photograph elusive pheasants and high-altitude dwellers.

The expedition is led by DCP's Masterclass Mentor who will offer on-field guidance in technique, framing, autofocus, metering, and light handling — all tailored to the challenging but rewarding conditions of Himalayan bird photography. With a small group size, low guest-to-mentor ratio, and slow-travel approach, this tour ensures both learning and comfort.

Whether you’re a beginner aiming to break into bird photography or a seasoned wildlife photographer looking to add rare Himalayan species to your portfolio, this expedition is crafted to deliver results — both in terms of memorable sightings and strong photographic output. Expect cool mountain air, early mornings filled with birdsong, and rewarding trails where every bend could unveil a new subject.
