About The Tour

Join us for a 3 nights, 4 days bird photography expedition to Jamnagar, one of the most renowned birding hotspots in Gujarat and a paradise for birdwatchers and photographers. Located along the western coast of India in the Saurashtra region, Jamnagar is home to two iconic birding destinations — Khijadiya Bird Sanctuary and Narara Marine National Park, India’s first marine national park.

Khijadiya Bird Sanctuary is a unique ecosystem combining freshwater lakes and saltwater marshes, spread over 6.05 sq. km. Located at the confluence of the Ruparel and Kalindri rivers near the Gulf of Kutch, this sanctuary attracts over 275–300 species of resident and migratory birds, including flamingos, pelicans, cranes, storks, plovers, and various raptors. Even noted ornithologist Dr. Salim Ali recorded 104 bird species here in a single day. The sanctuary’s diverse habitats — mangroves, creeks, and native vegetation — also support mammals like jungle cats, jackals, blue bulls, hares, and mongooses.

The Narara Marine National Park, surrounded by vibrant coral reefs and rich marine biodiversity, is another highlight of this expedition, offering opportunities to photograph coastal birds and aquatic life.

Target Species: Black-necked Stork, Black-necked Grebe, Northern Shoveler, Northern Pintail, Mallard, Pochards, Great Thick-knee, Crab Plover, Oyster-catcher, Pelicans, Flamingos, Curlew Sandpiper, Sanderling, Dunlin, Common and Demoiselle Cranes, Osprey, Peregrine Falcon, Pied Avocet, Grey Plover, Greater and Lesser Sand Plovers, Kentish Plover, Black-tailed and Bar-tailed Godwits, Curlews, Pallas’s Gull, Heuglin’s Gull, Slender-billed Gull, Caspian Tern, Lesser Crested Tern, Saunder’s Tern, and Little Tern.

This expedition is designed for bird photographers of all levels, offering incredible opportunities to capture rare and migratory species in diverse habitats, making it one of the best bird photography tours in India.
