Itinerary

We will travel overnight by train. We expect to reach Ganeshgudi early in the morning and check in at the resort. You can take some rest and then join us for the breakfast. If you are tired, you can still take some rest for a few more hours while the enthusiast can look around the resort for the exciting bird life. Lunch is arranged between 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm. The shade below the huge fig tree is a lovely place to idle time at Old Magazine house. One can sit here for hours sipping coffee and enjoying the colored feathered beauties. Enjoy birding with a cup of hot coffee. As the darkness sets in, the group discussion, fun and jokes over an enjoyable camp fire keeps the evening alive. Join the group for a delicious dinner on the terrace.

Wake up early in the morning listening to the call of the Malabar Pied hornbill calling from within the campus or may be the elusive Malabar Trogon pair calling from the canopy behind the resort. We will be going to the Timber Trail Depot today for bird photography. Come back to the resort and join the breakfast. Keep your camera always with you when you are in Ganeshgudi. There are high chances that you may get unbelievably close pictures of Golden fronted leaf birds, purple sun birds or Purple rumped sunbirds at your eye level while enjoying your breakfast. After breakfast, we will walk down the trail looking for the vernal hanging parrots, Malabar Trogons, Flame-throated Bulbuls, Orange Minivets and Heart-spotted Woodpeckers. Come back to the camp site for lunch, take some rest and get ready for the evening birding.

The night within the campus is thrilling. Spend the evening chatting over the bon fire and the join the dinner. Malabar flying squirrel regularly visits the fig tree and if you are lucky, you may witness the magnificent glide of this amazing creature in the darkness of the forest canopy.

Wake up early in the morning and do bird photography in and around the resort. We depart after breakfast.

The Old magazine house, a JLR resort is a rustic, weather beaten setup in the deep woods, an ideal place for bird watchers. The silence of the night is intermittently broken by the cries of the wild. The barking deer, the monkeys and the wild dogs visit very near the campus. Black leopard is a beauty of this region and often spotted by localites.

Rooms are cozy, very well maintained and kept neat and clean. Hotel will be well sanitized before we check-in and in between. To avoid cross contamination and to keep social distancing beds are placed accordingly. Hotel staff are well-trained and keeping social distance.

Was initially sceptical about another "hide" resort. However had a wonderful experience - the hide really attracts several species of small birds and short walk around the resort can be rewarding with large birds like the Malabar Trogan and Malabar/Pied Hornbill etc. Ar Sangram is humble but creative leader and really helps in improving your photography.
