Join DCP Expeditions for an exciting 3 nights and 4 days Bird Photography Masterclass Expedition in Coorg, one of the most sought-after birding destinations in the Western Ghats. Recognized as one of the top ten global biodiversity hotspots, the Western Ghats stretch over 1,40,000 sq. km and are home to an extraordinary diversity of life, including over 450 species of birds (35% endemic), 140 species of mammals (20% endemic), and around 260 species of reptiles (60% endemic).
Coorg stands out as a bird photographer’s paradise thanks to its rich avian diversity and the ease of photographic opportunities it offers. The property we use for this expedition borders the sacred Devarakadu (God’s Forest) and attracts a spectacular variety of Western Ghats bird species right within its premises. With four dedicated bird hides (observatories) — including two feeders for morning and evening sessions, a water hide ideal for reflection shots, and a Parakeet Observatory — photographers get unparalleled opportunities for capturing stunning avian behavior. Additionally, scenic walking trails within the estate open up even more possibilities to photograph rare and colorful birds.
Target Species: Malabar Grey Hornbill, White-cheeked Barbet, Greater Flameback Woodpecker, Lesser Flameback Woodpecker, Rufous Treepie, Red-vented Bulbul, Hill Myna, Black-throated Munia, Racket-tailed Drongo, Golden-fronted Leafbird, Red-cheeked Bulbul, Indian Robin, Yellow-browed Bulbul, Black-naped Monarch Flycatcher, Oriental Magpie-robin, White-browed Wagtail, Puff-throated Babbler, Dark-fronted Babbler, Common Emerald Dove, Paradise Flycatcher, Malabar Parakeet, Plum-headed Parakeet, and many more.
This expedition is designed to help participants master field techniques, understand bird behavior, and refine their composition skills while capturing the vibrant birdlife of the Western Ghats — a true paradise for bird photographers and nature lovers.
