More About DCP
Experience a 2 nights, 3 days Bhigwan Bird Photography Expedition at the iconic backwaters of Ujjani Dam — famously known as the “Bharatpur of Maharashtra.” Every winter, this vast wetland transforms into a thriving sanctuary for migratory birds, offering extraordinary opportunities to photograph greater flamingos, painted storks, bar-headed geese, herons, ducks, and a variety of waders framed against Bhigwan’s tranquil, pastel landscapes.
Adding to the diversity, the expedition also features an immersive session in the nearby grasslands, a hotspot for raptors and dryland specialists. From harriers gliding low over the fields to larks, pipits, and shrikes perched in golden light, this segment brings a compelling savanna-style birding experience that perfectly complements the magic of the wetlands.
A beautifully balanced mix of wetland photography and grassland birding, this tour offers an unforgettable opportunity for every bird lover and nature photographer to build a breathtaking portfolio from one of India’s richest winter habitats.

Join DCP Expeditions for a professionally guided bird photography tour to Bhigwan, one of India’s most iconic winter birding hotspots. Just 100 km from Pune, Bhigwan comes alive each season as thousands of migratory birds arrive — led by the magnificent greater flamingos, which transform the waters into a shimmering sea of pink and create unforgettable photographic opportunities.
Across three immersive days, you’ll explore the biodiverse wetland landscapes of Kumbhargaon and Diksal, renowned for hosting spectacular congregations of flamingos, spoonbills, storks, ibises, ducks, and gulls. Complementing these boat-based sessions are dedicated outings in the surrounding grasslands, where short-eared owls, harriers, kestrels, coursers, and an impressive range of dryland specialists offer dynamic subjects in dramatic light.
Guided by your expert DCP wildlife photography mentor, you’ll master essential field skills — from anticipating bird behaviour and working with changing light to refining exposure, focusing techniques, and ethical bird photography practices. This expedition blends diverse habitats, boat safaris, and land sessions to help you build a deeply rewarding and visually rich bird portfolio from one of western India’s most productive avian ecosystems.
