Munnar is one of the most picturesque locations of the state with some amazing locations to shoot landscapes. Munnar is a town and hill station located in the Idukki district of the southwestern Indian state of Kerala. The grandest and most extensive views of greenscape; some of the precipices are of stupendous magnitude and the charming variety of scenery comprising undulating grassy hills, wooded valleys, rocky crags, blue ranges in the far distance makes this location an ideal place for landscape photography. The tea estates are grown miles and miles like a green carpet as far as the eye can see. DCP Expeditions organises a landscape tour to this beautiful place in a way that you get maximum out of it. Masterclass Mentor - Landscape and Travel Photography

Ashok Dewangan is a photographic artist and educator, with a passion for Photography. He likes to do experiments with various genres of photography, his work is recognized on various national and international photographic platforms. He loves to explore hidden places for landscape photography and devotes his non-office hours to travelling to new places and doing experiments with photography. His core area of work is Travel and Landscape. He is brilliant in his Post-Processing skills, he teaches post-processing from basic to advanced levels. To date, he has taught post-processing to hundreds of participants. He always believes in knowledge sharing. He is associated with DCP as a Masterclass Mentor - Landscape and Travel Photography.

The nearest airport is Kochi International Airport. We will pick you and drop you at Kochi airport. Preferred Airlines from Mumbai (not included in the package) are Mumbai-Kochi: G8 347 and Kochi

The nearest railway station is Kochi or Ernakulam. A major junction of trains coming from major cities of India. Coordinate with team for pickup after reaching.

Getting Ready

Things to carry:

DSLR, Mirrorless Camera, Wide angle lens
Carry fully charged batteries for your camera
Carry battery charger. Carry extra pack of camera batteries
Carry backup memory cards / HDD storage drives, Laptop
ND filter (minimum 3 stops, we recommend 6 stops) and polariser filter (like CPL)
A sturdy tripod is a MUST.
Shoes: Gumboots are always good, wear non-slippery footwear
Wired/wireless remote trigger, camera timer will also work.
It is advisable to carry basic first aid along with you.
Do carry protective rain gears (Umbrella must) for yourself and for your equipment. We find Ponchos very good.
Please carry microfiber cloth/small towel to quick wipe camera from rain drop
Carry basic first aid along with you. Carry regular medicines if you are on medication.
Carry basic first aid kit, carry your regular medicine. Carry mosquito repellent creams.

Itinerary

Day 1

Reach Kochi airport by 10 am max. We will travel together from Kochi airport to Munnar through the beautiful winding roads crossing acres and acres of tea plantations, streams, hills and waterfalls. The journey to Munnar is beautiful and takes around 3:30 to 4 hours. After reaching Munnar, check-in at the resort, have lunch and take some rest. Our Panel Expert will do a short tour briefing over lunch. We will be having a short session on image composition, so that you get good fames when we go out for the evening photography session. We will be going for sunset shoot at Lockhart Tea Estate during the evening. Come back to resort and join the image review and post-processing session. Have dinner and take rest. We have an exciting day ahead.

Day 2

Leave for Sunrise shoot by 5 am. Stop over at various locations to shoot sunrise and dramatic skies. We will have our morning photography session towards Eravikulam National Park and Anamundi Hills. we will come back to the resort for breakfast followed by an image review session by our Panel Expert. Have lunch and then join our second post processing session. In the evening, we will go for Sunset shoot towards Mattupetty Dam and Top station. Come back to resort, have group discussion over dinner about the day's experience. Join the third post-processing session after dinner to work on some of the selected images taken during the day.

Day 3

Leave for Sunrise shoot early morning by 5 am. Stop over at various locations to shoot sunrise and dramatic sky. Come back to resort for breakfast and checkout following that. Travel to Kochi Airport. Our tour ends here.

Field Learnings

On field learning from the experts is said to be one of the best methods of improving your skillsets. The Landscape Photography maestro will hand hold you at every possible step for a better understanding of perspectives, camera controls and how to make use of the best opportunities to get better images. The training will focus on the following

Image processing workshop
How to get ideal exposure without exposure bracketing
Capturing Elements in frame
Shoot against light specially during sunrise and sunset
Taking sunburst

To maximize and complete your photographic learning, join our evening session of informal discussions on digital image processing. Our Expert will work on few of his own images or a few of yours (which you have clicked during the day) and demonstrate various techniques of image processing to give a final shape to your artwork. The following will be discussed

Sharpening, cloning, dodging and burning
