About The Tour

Havelock Island is a small island in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, India. Among the most beautiful and ideal landscape photography destinations in India, it is one of the best. The island is famous for its white-sand beaches and coral reefs. The waters are so clear that you can see the bottom of the sea at a depth of about 10 meters (33 ft). It will be a wonderful experience to travel here with DCP Expeditions on a 3N/4D landscape photography tour. In this 3N/4D tour we will be exploring different areas and capturing colorful sunset and sunrise with some unique elements. In addition to landscape photography, this tour includes 3-4 sessions of post-processing where your masterclass mentor guides you through a landscape-specific workflow. We are very sure that you will come back with not just beautiful and mesmerizing images of Havelock Island but, also with some good skills of making landscapes images.

Getting Ready

Things to carry:

  • Your DSLR Camera/s
  • Wide angle lens like – 10-18mm, 11-16mm, 12-24mm, 14 mm, 16-35mm, 18-55mm, 24-70mm
  • ND filters- preferable 10 stops ND or 6 stops ND, if you have CPL filter, please carry
  • Sturdy tripod (Must), don’t forget to carry release plate.
  • Carry Extra pack of batteries.
  • Wired/wireless remote trigger, if camera has 2 sec delay option, then also fine.
  • Carry backup memory cards. Laptop is optional.
  • There will be small walk on beaches so we advise to wear non-slippery foot wear.
  • Carry basic first aid kit, carry your regular medicine. Carry mosquito repellent creams.
  • Drinking water/eatables.
  • Walk: Moderate
  • Hill/Mountain climbing: No, however there are steps in beaches.

Field Learnings

On field learning from the experts is said to be one of the best methods of improving your skillsets. Our Landscape Photography Expert will hand hold you at every possible step for a better understanding of perspectives, camera controls and how to make use of the best opportunities to get better images. The training will focus on the following

  1. How to shoot landscape.
  2. How to use wide angle lens.
  3. How to shoot with editing in mind.
  4. Different modes of shooting (Av / A, Tv / S, M and P)
  5. Exposure control in field under difficult light conditions
  6. Mastering metering techniques (Spot, partial, center weighted, evaluative)
  7. Mastering auto focus, focusing points, AF locking and focus tracking for moving subjects
  8. Framing and composition in the field

Image processing workshop

To maximize and complete your photographic learning, join our 2-3 sessions of informal discussions and guide on digital image processing specially designed for landscape. Our Expert will work on few of his own images or a few of yours (which you have clicked during the tour) and demonstrate various techniques of image processing to give a final shape to your artwork. The following will be discussed

  1. RAW files processing
  2. Histogram and exposure control
  3. Colour correction methods
  4. Luminosity Mask (Basic)
  5. Cropping and image resizing
  6. Sharpening, cloning, dodging and burning
  7. Noise reduction
  8. Save for Instagram, Facebook, Print
